Instagram is a social media platform. It is a completely mobile phone based app that is made for smart phones.  Instagram is based in Menlo Park, California.

Some best practices for Instagram include:

1) Create a good profile picture. The picture should be of yourself or of the company’s logo. This should be the same photo or logo that you use for your Facebook and Twitter accounts.

2) Please make your user name easy to remember. You are building your companies brand, so make it memorable.

3) Clearly spell out your company’s value proposition.  Communicating the value of your product or service is key to creating a long-term and enduring brand.

4) Add an Instagram link to your blog or website.  Your Instagram marketing campaign should be visually compelling.  Keep the images fresh and interesting! This helps you build a loyal and active Instagram following.  This Instagram link will help drive traffic to your website and more traffic equals more business.

5) Post a picture or content about 3 times a week.  Don’t overload your Instagram account. Make the pictures part of a larger online marketing campaign.

6) Make the pictures relate to the “#” or hash tag. For example, #Marketing or #InternetMarketing. Some of the popular “#” are #WednesdayHumpday or  #ThrowbackThursday. With these hash tags Instagram users can see your feed even if they are not yet following you!
